WIGHTMAN & SONS
PAARDEBERG • SWARTLAND
It was a beautiful wisteria that first attracted owners Andrew and Elise Wightman to the farm called Môrelig – Afrikaans for "morning light". They promptly bought it and were motivated by neighbours at Testalonga to pursue winemaking. The year was 2011. The venture, undertaken with son Brandon, saw its first vintage in 2015. Located on the Paardeberg Mountain, it is an artisanal enterprise making use of non-irrigated bush vines. There are six different cultivars covering 24ha, with the oldest block planted in 1965.
