Founded in 2000 by Nico Bacon, an entrepreneur in the South African fishing industry, Org de Rac was established with a vision to produce fine wines from sustainably grown grapes, guided by a strong commitment to organic farming.

After careful soil classification and the planting of the first vines in 2002, the inaugural wines were released in 2005, laying the foundation for a distinctive range crafted as close to nature as possible. As a pioneer of 100% certified organic wine-farming in South Africa, Org de Rac continues to focus on superlative quality from vine to bottle, using environmentally sustainable methods that promote living soils, biodiversity, and responsible water use.

In 2024, Phillip Vercuiel joined the Org de Rac family as winemaker and general manager, bringing nearly two decades of experience and a passion for sustainable living. Today, he builds on the estate’s organic philosophy, guiding the cellar with a focus on authenticity, sustainability, and wines that reflect the unique character of the land.
