At Nieuwedrift Vineyards, Johan Mostert, his artist wife Karin and family, welcome visitors with open arms.
This beautiful farm on the banks of the Berg River is just the spot for a leisurely day with great wine spent in good company.
The Mostert family has been farming with wine grapes since 1965, but Johan was the first to try his hand at making his own wine in 2002. The first year was a learning curve and, with the support of friend and mentor Marais de Villiers, Johan produced his first fruity Chenin Blanc, followed by a barrel-matured Shiraz.
Nieuwedrift now also produces Méthod Cap Classique, Shiraz Blanc de Noir and Chardonnay.
The wine god Bacchus guards the entrance to the spacious tasting room, Nieuwedrift Wijnhuis, where the farm’s Chenin Blanc, Shiraz, Blanc de Noir, Chardonnay and Méthod Cap Classique can be sampled. The tasting room doubles as an art gallery for the paintings of resident artist Karin Mostert.
And now you can enjoy Nieuwedrift's Boutique wines with delicious wood fired pizzas or platters in there new Restaurant that opened on the 11th November 2017.
Child and pet-friendly with a play park and lovely green lawns.
